Veterinary CT Scans for Pets in Wisconsin.

When am I able to schedule a CT?
Thursday is our outpatient imaging scanning day. More urgent requests are available for other days but must be scheduled.
How do I schedule/change/cancel an appointment?
Please schedule through your referring veterinarian or directly with COVE via email: scheduling@cove-vet.com. Changes and cancellations should be handled directly with COVE. Cancellations within 24 hours may result in fee.
What happens during the appointment?
Your pet will be closely monitored during the scanning process and recovery. Your pet will be anesthetized during the procedure. An IV catheter will be placed during the procedure and may be given contrast via their IV catheter. In few cases, side effects such as diarrhea may occur. The imaging process is approximately 30 minutes. Your pet will be monitored by an anesthesiologist.
How long will the appointment take?
We begin procedures at 9:00am. We ask that you drop off your pet at the time confirmed with you so that your pet can acclimate to their surroundings. The actual procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. COVE will call you when your pet is ready to go home, typically by 12:00noon.
Can my pet eat or drink before the appointment?
Please withhold food after 8:00 pm the night prior to the appointment, unless advised differently by your veterinarian. Your pet may drink water.
Should I still give my pet his/her medications the morning of the appointment?
Under direction of your primary veterinarian, you may give medications with a small amount of food.
Why did my veterinarian say that I need to give a sedative to my pet 1-3 hours before the appointment? Won’t he/she be sedated for the procedure?
Oral medications recommended by your veterinarian aid in relieving anxiety so that your pet is more comfortable when they arrive at our office. Your pet will be anesthetized and closely monitored at all times.
Can I wait with and stay with my pet during the procedure?
No. Your pet will be taken to a quiet, safe area closely monitored by our staff only. There is limited space in the waiting area, to be used for drop off & pick up.
What do I need to do for my pet after the procedure?
Please be sure to use a leash or carrier for drop off and pick up. Monitor your pet closely when outside and near stairs as they may be groggy for the remainder of the day.
When can my pet eat and drink? What about giving his/her medications?
Offer your pet small amounts of water no sooner than 1 hour after you arrive home. Your pet can eat half of its normal meal size in the evening, given in small increments. Consult with your veterinarian for medication directions.
What are some side effects to watch for after the CT?
Due to the anesthesia, your pet may be nauseous and/or dizzy. Please contact your veterinarian or emergency clinic if these symptoms worsen or don’t dissipate by late evening.
When will you call me with the results?
Please consult with your veterinarian for imaging results and treatment plan. (Reports are typically sent to your veterinarian within 48 hours.)
How do I pay for the CT/US procedure?
Payment is expected when you pick up your pet from COVE. We accept cash, checks, Care Credit, Scratch Pay and credit cards. There is a 3% processing fee for credit cards.
